The BAPS Hindu mandir built in Abu Dhabi is all set for its inauguration day, 14 February. In a statement released by the Indian embassy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to present and inaugurate the temple.
The temple is getting its final touch. On the occasion of the inauguration of one of the largest temples in West Asia, PM Modi will be addressing the Indian community living in Abu Dhabi, a day before the inauguration ceremony of the temple, at the “Ahlan Modi” event.

Overview of BAPS Hindu Mandir, Abu Dhabi
The Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi is built by the BAPS Swaminarayan Santha. It is a 27-acre vast land situated at Abu Mureikhah, near Al Rahba off the Dubai-Abu Dhabi Sheik Zayed Highway.

The founder of the temple Mahant Swami Maharaj envisioned the temple during his trip to UAE in 1997. From there the history of this majestical temple begins.
After that, during PM Modi’s visit in 2015, the UAE government decided to provide land for the construction of the Hindu mandir.
The crown prince, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the deputy commander of UAE armed forces have presented the current land to the Mandir trust, strengthening the bond between UAE and India.
In 2018, an MOU was signed between India and UAE in the presence of the trust of BAPS, the entire royal family members of the UAE, and 250 local leaders. Finally, in 2019 the construction of this Hindu holy place began in Abu Dhabi.
Construction & Cost of BAPS Hindu Mandir, Abu Dhabi
The construction of the BAPS Hindu mandir was officially started on 20 April 2019. According to reports, the budget of this marvelous temple was around Rs 700 crore.
For the construction, a considerable amount of pink stones were shipped from northern Rajasthan, India to Abu Dhabi.
These stones of Rajasthan are well known for their durability and ability to withstand burning summer temperatures up to 50 degrees Celsius, which will be appropriate considering the hot weather of the Middle East.
Other than that, Italian marbles are also used in the temple to make it more elegant and beautiful. In the concrete mixture of the temple, fly ash has been used to reduce the carbon footprint and make it an eco-friendly place.
Another unique thing that makes it appealing, the BAPS temple has undergone digital modeling and seismic simulation to see the performance of the physical model to predict its performance in the real world.
Architecture of the BAPS Hindu Mandir, Abu Dhabi
The Mandir is built in a way that it can host up to 10,000 people in the temple. It’s 108 feet tall, 79.86 long, and 54.86 wide structure that has many impressive elements that add to the uniqueness and beauty of this temple.

It has seven shikhars representing the seven emirates of the UAE and 402 pillars. Apart from that it consists of two dome-like structures and 12 samrans.
Each shikar tells the tales of Hindu deities, the shikars are carved with the tales of Ramayana, Shiv Purana, Mahabharata, and other deities stories that are established at the temple.
The temple has a “Dome of Harmony” that represents the five elements- fire, earth, water, air, and space.
